"What's the best piece of advice you have ever received?" is a question everyone gets asked at some point in their career, and journalists are no exception.

Columbia Journalism Review asked 20 journalists from various fields and news organisations, including The New York Times, ProPublica and NPR, for those nuggets of wisdom that have stuck with them throughout their reporting career.
